Subject: Grazing Cereal Rye

Anyone have experience with this? We graze wheat in the winter but decided to try some cereal rye this year. We no-tilled directly into the sod and have what appears to be a very nice stand coming on (though we definitely need some rain). The hope is to be able to graze it in late Nov through Dec and maybe hit it again in early spring.

My question is how big of an issue is nitrate poisoning? Do we need to make sure it is over knee high? I've also read you have to be careful after a frost. Any insight is appreciated.
