cropsey, il 61731 | We have been doing a little notil beans as part of a CSP program (cover crops, wheat program that fits out summer manure application necessity) and this year we did all 400 acres in notil (15" kinze). For once my beans are up before the typical tillage beans and I wasn't near as worried about crusting as in years before. I planted in slightly moist conditions (dry on top, moisture 1-2" down) and we got a hard rain (not good) but then some heat and soft rains and the beans came up great. Just as planned/"all too easy" (D. Vador)
So, apparently the secret is weather. Ok I'm no genius and really glad it's worked out well so far. | |
