Subject: Advice on Allis chalmers 600 series 4 row with 70 series planters

I am new to farming on this scale and plan to plant 5-10 acres of sweet corn late May this year here in Va. I restored this unit which I bought rough from a farmer in Maryland. It was a great project for me and a great way to teach the kids from skills like wire wheel brushing. Miraculously AGCO still had all the parts for it that I needed( nope they were not on sale :-) ) So here is my question. I am planning on using the fertililizer hoppers on the 600 series. ON the 70 series planters there are herbicide boxes that mixes it in before the rubber closer wheel. The herbicides listed in the original operators manual are all off the market(been 30 years since it was printed but I bet they were awesome). SHould I plan on using the dry herbicide and integrating them and if so what product? If not I have a pto sprayer but that would be a topside application. Not sure how accurate, rate flow, or uniform the Allis will be.
Thoughts and thanks for you help!
