Subject: Baled the rye today, with a twist

SE SD
We have had alot of rain here lately and we barely floated across the low spots with the SP hay cutter and thought the sun and wind would dry it enough to get the baler through but still to wet. So go hook up the dump rake and drag the windrows to higher ground. We have more rain coming soon so I didn't want to let it lay.

I ended up with around 35 ton of balage from 7 acres. Was 63 big squares. I will test it to see what it is but it sure looked nice.

I will feed this to pairs next April and May on pasture as supplement to grass so I hope they eat it.

I grew up pulling that dump rake with an 8n Ford so I felt right at home!

I will work the ground for millet then back to rye this fall, unless I find something better.
