Subject: House floor machinery

Ludington/Manistee MI area
We live in a 1930's farm house. The carpet in the living and dining rooms is looking on the worn side. It's beyond me why but wife was stairing up at the underside of the floor from the basement she odserved it looks like we have wood flooring. After stairing together I agree. We talked about putting wood flooring in at points in the past. Any advise on how to proceed? Other than pick a corner to explore. I know the "upstairs" has decent looking flooring that in one room we got to look nice.
