Subject: Help---determining yield loss damage from retailer application mistake

South Dakota
We are going throught some negotiations with our retailer after an application error.

They put on 120 units of 28% nitrogen through a machine with a strong Rate preemerge chemical (group 15, 27, and atrazine). For reasons that I still don't fully understand, something happened and there are numerous 10-14 foot strips in the field where it is apparent there was little, if any chemical put on because the weed pressure was strong by about v3. (Like a thick matte of pigweed curly dock lambsquarter and some buttonweed). Making things more complicated is there is also numerous strips of yellow corn that are nitrogen deficient. Sometimes they correlate with the weeds, sometimes they do not.

Anyway needless to say the Chem rep could tell it was applicator error. What would you estimate is our yield loss from intense weed pressure i.e. no chemicals at all on 10 foot every 100 foot and yellow strips 10 foot wide every 100 foot. Corn is now v6, originally hoping for 200 bu. Field is 100 acres.

Thanks for the help.
