Subject: You've Got Mail

Boone Co. Iowa
Only, it isn't yours.

We just moved to country, and I will be danged if we don't get a neighbor's mail every other day or so.

My parents live a mile down the road, and I have picked up their mail for years, and maybe 1 or 2 times did someone else's mail end up in my parents box.

We are getting lots of the neighbor's mail. Bills, fliers, magazines, you name it, it has shown up in our box.

My first thought was to put neighbor's mail back in box, put flag up, let mail carrier know s/he is making mistake. I thought that that might take care of the problem. I mean, my parents never get someone else's mail....I grew up in the country and never had a problem....

Is this just something "new" that the carrier will eventually figure out? Should I keep letting carrier "know" that mail is going to wrong address, or will that just seem snobbish and I should just deliver/forward the mail to the correct neighbor?

Just wondering what the protocol might be. Thanks.
