Subject: Property Insurance Rate Increase

E. Kansas
Just received the renewal notice for the property insurance for 2014. This is for full coverage on the house and farmstead, and includes liability on the farm land for accidents. The policy is 1 year coverage time.

The insurance company is Farmers Alliance Companies, 1122 North Main, McPherson, KS 67460. We have had insurance with them for at least 15 years, probably more.

The rate increase this year is 17.78% from 2013, the increase from 2012 to 2013 was 17.84%. We have never made any claims to the insurance for anything in all the years of having them. Their rates had seemed reasonable until the past few years.

These are ridiculous rate increases. Nothing has changed regarding the buildings, no new buildings built, or any other changes.

This company will be cancelled when I find something better. I can see it is way past time to go insurance shopping.

For those who have never had a property insurance claim, what have your rate increases been the past few years?
