Subject: corn stalks dragging

SE Iowa
Working down chiseled corn ground going to beans. Have a nice high clearance field cultivator but stalks are dragging bad this year. Neighbors say same thing. I shredded some fields last fall before chiseling because they were dragging so bad last fall with disk chisel. Guys are blaming it on lack of rain. But every year seems to be getting worse. Several guys ran vertical tillage last fall instead of chisel plow. Was wondering what opinions are on fall vertical tillage vs chiseling and how fields worked down in spring with VT
