Subject: Effects of strip-tilling under wide tracks

WCIL
Going to need more horsepower to pull a strip-till bar in the fall applying dry fertilizer in the strip. So far I have used a controlled traffic pattern for several years, staying off the rows, but was wondering about the effects on the row under an older higher horsepower tractor with wide tracks. I am thinking that a wide track might spread the tractor load enough that by spring after freezing and thawing, (central Illinois), the compaction won't be noticeable. Agree or disagree and comments please.
