Subject: Sinkholes

We are back to our problem that I listed on here last year. In 2013 I wrote about a washout about 6' wide and 4' deep. It was suggested that there would be a broken tile, as I stated last year there are no known tiles on the farm, we have had it for 30 plus years. When we dug it out we hit limestone right away, the limestone had cracks in it but was quite solid. We filled the hole with dirt and it looked okay until this spring now there is a smallsinkhole starting.

I am going on the assumption that just enough water is seeping through the dirt to start another washout. A further assumption is that the cracks in the limestone are taking any water that is getting that deep. I am thinking about diging it out good an dumping a foot or two of limestone in first before refilling with dirt. The way it is right now I would hate to ge real closs to it with the combine.

I am going to try to add a picture from last year.
