Subject: Rem 552 poly seal on air drum?

Denhoff,ND right in the center of the State

I was having trouble with grain going out the exhaust on my Rem 552 grain vac, we took it apart and found that the seal is worn, My question is how far should this seal be away from the mating surface by the blower, mine seems to have quite a bit of room in between, or is the seal worn off on that side from rubbing against surface. My seal seams to be about 1" thick but is worn round on the inside. If you wanted the seal to run closer could you remove some of the spacers, there is 2 of them each 5/32" thick, or does this fit up tighter when you are running the vac and suck up closer? Was just wondering, have not seen the new seal yet, had to order and will not be here until mid week. Was impressed with how easy this vac was to work on and easy of removal of parts, seems like a simple design. Thanks, Terry
