Subject: Going Variable Rate do's and don'ts

Central Texas
We got a new planter this fall with VR drive and clutches, and we are building a 16 row banding rig set up with VR and section control to put out our fertilizer before planting. Both the planter and fertilizer rig will be controlled with an Integra. We farm in central Texas where rain is our biggest limiting factor most years, we grow corn, cotton, milo and winter wheat. I'm mainly concerned with VR planting on the corn and milo. I have 2 years of yield data. I am getting prepared to start making prescriptions using yield data and soil maps. Just looking for any pointers on what works and what to look out for. Any pointers or opinions are very appreciated. TIA
