Paxton, IL | Just got my Trimble 542 Base station and plan to start using it for drainage tile installation shortly after the corn crop comes out this fall.
I want to do a 24 hour survey of all my base locations to make sure they are repeatable and will line up with each other in the future. However, looking through the manual that came with the base, it looks like I can either set up a base location by entering known coordinates (which I don't know yet), or use a "here" position. The "here" position option looks good, except it seems to me that it only does a quick 1 minute or so survey to establish its position. I don't see anything in the manual about doing a more exact survey.
Anyone have the procedure for doing a 24 hour survey on a 542?
