Subject: Chemical used on railroad tracks?

Renville County, MN
Just wondering if anyone knows what chemical the railroads use to keep the weeds out of the tracks. Seems like it keeps them down good and does not leach down the side when it rains. Would like to use this on my yard as I am getting tired of spraying all the time. Spray and kill the weeds and a couple weeks later weeds are coming back again.
