Subject: Interseeding alfalfa stand

Sumner GA, Located in southwest GA,
Looking to possibly be short of feed next spring. Long story. Anyway, the question is I have a No till drill now, already have or am going to have every field planted to something, I have no more open land that is not already being used, will clear a couple acres this winter if it stays dry and drill for pasture, but meanwhile, have a few alfalfa stands that are a bit thin, couple will come out in 14', would I risk smothering a stand to go in now and drill oats to cut for forage at around knee high in the spring. Gut says yes but someone ought to know for sure, these fields are not dormant, and unless it sure enough gets cold in the next couple of weeks, they will likely stay green, wont accumulate much growth but will be growing. Opinions?
