Subject: macdon adapter for JD 60 series problems

Galahad, Alberta
Have a older macdon 962 header on a 960 A adapter. I ran this on my 9610 combine, and just traded off the 9610 on a 9760 sts. I knew that I would have some work to do updating the single point hook up and the drive line. But I did not know that the deere feeder house had different cast retainers on the top side. They will not go into my old macdon 960 adapter frame. Does anyone know if any of the older 871 or 872 JD adapters will work on a 60 series combine, or do I have to go right up to the 873 adapter? Salesmen and partsmen are no help, even the guy at Macdon wasn't sure if the older adapters could be made to work. It is the the retainers on the top of the feeder house that are screwing me up, I can rig the rest of the stuff up.
