Subject: Flat screen TV purchase

OK, as football season is upon us, it's time to purchase a new large flat screen. We bought a 26 inch Vizio two years ago and love it. The wife and I have been looking for something in the 47-55 inch range and would appreciate any feedback anyone could give us, as far as brands, options, models, etc.

Also, one silly question: Do we want an LED or an LCD, or does it matter at all?
