Subject: Drought into the fall = HOW MUCH FALL NH3?

NC IA
Starting to strategize my Nitrogen program for 2013. You hear much talk about the current weather pattern staying here in the midwest until mid/late fall. October/November.

If that does happen, the chance of getting fall NH3 to seal is going to be next to zero.
I have always done about 3/4 of my N in the fall as NH3.

If it does stay dry, I am debating what to do? Here are my thoughts...
1. gear up for spring nh3? Could delay my corn planting if we have a late/wet spring...
2. spray on some 28% with herbicide and sidedress the balance?
3. set up the planter for N, then sidedress the balance.

Here in NC Iowa, the Fall Nh3 is a very common practice. The thought of switching the majority of it to spring/incrop is very scary.
Me as a producer relying on the coop to have product and have equipment is kinda nerve racking.

Should I be buying my own nh3 applicator or Liquid sidedress applicator?

Jury is still out, but wanna be ahead of the curve instead of behind the curve...

what everyone else thinking???
