Subject: When is it to dry to chop

Paola, KS
Waiting on the custom choppers, should be here tomorrow or the following day. Went and scouted corn fields today, its amazing how fast they dry down in this consecutive 100+ heat. I have a 40 acre tract in particular that doesn't have much for ears. It went from still having some decent color 5 days ago to all the leaves being brown today. We plan on bagging and inoculating, but I wanted to ask for other experiences. Is this corn to dry to ensile just because all the leaves are brown or do I still have some hope within a short window?
