Suver, Oregon | Hello again race fans. Max and the NitroRadish racing team have been busy the past 5 weeks.
The weekend of May 26th and 27th the team was again at the Tri-Cities track in Richmond Washington for race #'s 3 and 4 of the Northwest Gold Cup Series. 24 drivers showed up to compete in the class Max runs, Rotax Senior.
Despite this being the fourth trip to the track to race or practice this year the young driver struggled to meet his, and the teams expectations. On Saturday Max qualified 16th. He went on to finish 14th in his heat race. In the main event his performance improved, and he was able to move past a few competitors and finish 11th in the Main.
On Sunday the Tri-Cities struggle continued. Max qualified 22nd out of the 24 karts. In his heat race he made a good start and picked up 5 positions on the run to turn two. He went to finish 16th. In the main he solderied on steadily and finished fourteenth.
The 5 hour ride home was quiet as a frustrated father and a dejected son pondered the realization that the move to the senior class was tougher than they had anticipated.
It was looking to become a long season.
