Subject: Row Starter Flow Problem - Wilgers JD 1770 w/Piston Pump

NC Indiana

On our 2005 JD 1770 planter we removed the factory JD system after the piston pump and installed a Wilger flow indicator bank, 6 rows and 6 rows.  Ran the same length hose to each row, then through a check valve, and down to the single disc openers.  When using this set up we had around 7 PSI showing on the Wilger manifold, rows 3, 7 &8 would have thier red balls near the bottom of the glass, the rest near the top.  Put in heavier check valve caps (black ones off our sprayer) and we now have 15 PSI and rows 3, 5 & 6 are showing very little flow.  In fact, I'm not sure much fertilizer has come out of those rows period.  Installed the JD factory orfice and screen and didn't see much change.  Trying for 10 GPA, pump is in high range, set for about that output.

Do most who use the Wilger flow banks still use some sort of restriction?  If so what?  We were told to remove the screens and restriction disc as they were prone to plug.  But how do you get even flow?

Any ideas will help!

TIA
