Subject: New shop photos...finally about done.

West Central Wisconsin
Wanted to take some outside photos with snow in the foreground but that isn't happening, so here they are. Concrete was poured first week of November and building went up second week of December. The roof dimensions are 64x52 with 14 foot cantilevered overhang and the shop is 50x52x16. Ladder frame construction, (four ft. on ctr.), with 2' girts. One 24x15 overhead door, 36"x78" service door, 48"x7' rear service door and two 36"x36" windows on the south side. Insulted seven inch thick, re-barred floor area behind overhead is sloped to center drain while work area on left is level. Water/electricity from milkhouse is trenched into 8'x10' office with water heater and electric base board heater and sink outside of office wall. 80 foot Detroit Radiant 125/175K btu,lp radiant tube heat and 11 eight foot T-8 light fixtures over work area. R-19 wall insulation and R-31 planned for ceiling. Air line is looped using 3/4" pvc with goosenecked droplines and has four inline drain points and eventually a drain coming from compressor into sink. Floor is sealed with 50/50 mix of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits. Workbench is four by ten foot long 3/16" steel plate bent over 2x4 studs on edge. Basically done enough to start wrenching but still more to be done like welding table and hangers, etc. As with any project you realize what you should have done differently like; floor a foot higher, run water line under floor to outside wash area, lay a phone line in the water and elec. trench and conduit under floor for welder plug on far side of overhead door. Future plan is to add on a pole-type, cold storage machine shed, onto back of shop and a concrete approach. We built what we could afford for the size of our operation and am happy with how it turned out. Joe
