Subject: How far can we go-planters, cornheads, hydraulics?

Macon, IL
I remember thinking when 8 row heads came out-that there would be 12 row someday, but that would be it-no way to do 16 or more. Now 16 30" seems the practical limit but combine hp, etc. keep increasing so why not.

Same for planters, thread below got me thinking, planters using 5 remotes, or I think some using 4 and large PTO pump. Man, grandpa could never have imagined that.

Now put your future hat on-not 5 years down the road-but 10 or 20.

Are we going to someday see 72 row planters, 24 row cornheads (or 32), and tractors with 10 remotes and god knows how many GPM hydrualic pumps? Seems the only limiting factor is transport width-and folding up can get creative. Maybe something so large you transport the cornhead of planter in two pieces?

OR are we going to go to multiple smaller unmanned untits? Maybe you have 5 100hp unmanned tractors each pulling an 8 row planter? Seems to make more sense-easier to transport-if one breaks down you only lose 20% of capacity, etc. Not sure that same model converts to combines and harvest.
