Northeast Nebraska | Got into some corn today with the sprayer to put on 2,4-d for late broadleaves. Last week corn was okay, pollinated very good. This week adult corn rootworm beetles are severe. Peel back a husk and 3 beetles roll out. Silks are gone. This is on triple stack and viptera corn. It is very likely we will go to corn on these fields next year. I added in a pint of lorsban to kill the beetles that are out there now.
Pioneer man says Herculex trait is rated the best for rootworm. So we are thinking about using some of that. What about infurrow LIQUID insecticides?
What would be a recommended rate of capture? I would like to put a 500 gallon tank on the planter and run 3gpa of 10-34-0. Does capture require agitation, or does it get mixed up enough when filling the tank?
Just thinking out loud. I forsee a rootworm problem and want to be prepared. Thoughts and comments appreciated. | |
