What are you going to do if you go over your allotted water permit to finish out your corn or soybeans? I checked my water meter yesterday and I’m already about 10 acre feet over my allotted amount of water with at least two weeks yet to go before the corn is finished. I understand we can buy an Emergency Drought Term Permit or a Multi Year Flex Account Permit. The trouble is if we have a dry year again next year we are just screwing ourselves for next year with either permit. The way I read in their news letter that by buying the permit all we are doing is voluntarily fining ourselves for going over our permits, because neither permit allows us to use more water in future years.
