Subject: Adding a hydraulic cooler

I was thinking of adding a hydraulic cooler on our old Case 2470 tractor. The powershift trans is not all it should be and once it gets warmed up it doesn't move so well. I did pressure tests and the pressure out of the regulator is lower than it should be so I have all the parts to rebuild that and also was going to check the cooler to see how well it was working. I looked all around, even through the service manuals we have and I don't think it has one. I was thinking I could put it in pretty easily before or after the hydraulic filters or before it goes into the regulator valve. I'm thinking before the regulator valve would be the best as would be the most critical place to have it running cooler. Does anyone else have think another place would work better?
