Subject: Historic high basis price on wheat.

Can someone explain to me if this $1.06 basis price on KC Wheat is really market related or is it the consolidation of grain buyers that has a manopoly on the market. I remember when the basis was between 35 and 40 cents. We're in the area today that the basis is 25% of the crop. I would like someone to show me why this is happening now. My city friends think I'm getting the price that is posted on the market page of their local newspaper. Look at the problem this will create in our crop insurance figures. Once again we are paying an insurance premimun for coverage that does not exist.

Is all this "fund buying" and papertraders causing this problem?
