Subject: ? about hill drop cotton

NW Tennessee
I've been using the acid delinted plates that singulate the seed in my 1720 JD planter. Wanting to try some hill drop to hopefully cut back on seed cost and help with pushing out in crusty situations. I have been planting 45K-48K seed per acre on 38" rows. For you guys that hill drop, or used to, are you using the 2 cell disc, the 4 cell disc, or the 4 cell disc with one cell siliconed up? How far apart are your hills and what is the planting population? I've asked three different guys around here and gotten three different answers and only one could tell me off the top of his head what seed pop they have been planting. And they have changed from 30" to 38" since last year, so his info really didn't mean much anymore. TIA
