Subject: Can I use an air seeder box to apply dry fertilizer?

Southeast Colorado
I'm still working on setting my strip till rig to apply dry fertilizer and know where one of these older air seeder boxes is for sale. It's still on the old sweep plow but could easily be taken off and mounted to my rig. To my knowledge they were only ever used to blow seed through the tubes but it lookes like it would work for fertilizer. Is the fertilizer too heavy which would cause problems or would it not feed through the metering system correctly? I know some people have mixed fertilizer with their wheat seed and gotten along OK but the percentage of fertilizer to wheat is rather low. Any suggestions would be appreciated because I sure don't want problems but it looks like a really good way to accomplish what I'm after, especially on a budget. I guess I probably should have posted over on Machinery talk, sorry!
