Subject: planted a radish experiment today (pics)

Hello folks,

finally got our radish experiment planted today.

2 treatments (solid radish drilled on 7.5" vs. radish drilled on 30" rows with oats on 7.5"), 3 reps, 30' x 1200' plots.

field had some very weedy beans (before I them mowed off ~ 2 weeks ago) so there should be plenty of N.

Corn will be planted on 30" rows (lined up with the 30" radish rows) in 2010.

Tomorrow we will also plant some 30' wide strips of a few new forage brassicas (Hunter, Winfried and Egyptian Cabbage) and a bunch of smaller plots of vetch and crimson clover - seed from Terry Taylor.

the first 2 pics show how we used a JD 750 drill to plant radish on 30" rows - the 24 oz plastic containers were secured with double stick tape.

we had hoped to plant the oats and radish at the same time but decided this was impractical (the target seeding rates were too different) so we drilled the oats in a second pass.
