Subject: Ed Winkle, question about tillage radish in wheat

nwin
was wondering about radishes in wheat on the loamy sands in nw in. would they create too much drainage for the water to run away from the wheat roots as opposed to breaking hard pan of clay soil in other areas. my wheat consultant told me he has been using them for awhile in clay soils with good results. i dont think i have a problem with compaction. was more interested in the scavenger aspect. i planted 6 acres into no till second crop beans last week for experimental purposses. might have to sacriface the beans. hope to be smarter next year. looking forward to no tilling corn into them next year.
