Subject: CDL question

In Texas is it required to have a CDL to haul livestock?
I have read several different things on the internet and not sure what is true.
My old setup had farm plates on both truck and trailer and I didn't worry about it.
I just got a new truck and livestock trailer and didn’t really want to put farm plates on my truck as I “legally” can’t drive X miles away or use it for going on vacation, etc.. But the livestock trailer will have farm plates, does that do me any good or does both truck and trailer have to have farm plates to get the benefit?
Also looking at getting a triple axle lowboy trailer to haul my skidsteer around for personal use. Skidsteer is close to 12k/lbs. again trailer would have farm tags, but not the truck.
Thanks for the help!
