Subject: 1997 Vortec 350 uses some oil etc...?

Mid-Missouri
Looking at a local Yukon with 175,000. Owner says it uses about a quart every 5-700 miles. It doesn't smoke or leak. It also has a hesitation that comes and goes they said. New fuel filter didn't help. Their mechanic thought it may need an intake gasket, which is why it uses some oil, and maybe fouled some plugs causing the hesitation. Any comment on what you may believe the oil loss is from and why the hesitation. I am considering buying it and just wanted some opinions. Four wheel drive works, needs shocks and brake work. Seems peppy but I would be curious to check the compression. Hopefully the tranny will be good for awhile. I have a 97 2wd with 279,000 original engine miles that doesn't use a drop of oil. Hopefully this would make it that far also. Thanks
