Subject: Silver lining of bird flu?

SC Wisconsin
The health department for my county released a statement yesterday that there have been confirmed cases of bird flu in our county. We've got a half dozen layers that will have to stay locked up to try to keep them safe. I got to thinking yesterday, how lethal is bird flu to starlings? They travel in huge flocks and have to be the dirtiest birds ive seen so I would think if it's going to spread it would be in that species. I absolutely hate those things, they cost me a lot of money every year in wasted feed. I've got 72 calf huts, and they love the starter I use for the calves, they crap all over the feed and mix it in as well as splash water from the water bucket into the grain. So even if i only throw out a pound or 2 per bucket per day thats a lot of expensive calf starter. Of course they don't show up until late morning when I'm at work and are gone by the time I get home. I would be overjoyed if a disease wiped them off the face of the earth.
