Southeast PA | We run a 36' 11 ring 2 30hp burners at work. We run it continous flow.
Cons: -no good way to sample moisture. Gsi has a sampler out now that goes on one dump chute that samples some of the grain when it dumps. No idea how well that works. Once its there, it's there, not like a continuous flow that you could replace it with a bigger one if you need to fairly.easily. Spouts can plug and if you dry wetter than 20-22% you need to clean it every few days. There will be chunks of wet beeswings that collect on the rings inside the dryer. These can come off and block apouts.
Pros: -versatile, large capacity, probably cheaper than other smilar capacity dryers. can dry for a day or 2 and not have to move grain to another bin. Can be used with a single leg. Simple, very few moving parts. We've dried millions of bushels with virtually no breakdowns.
To reduce plugging, we set it up to be able to shut the fans and burners off when it dumps. This helps keep beeswings from plugging spouts. | |
