IA | Below is an exerpt from another NAT member. He is or was an Ag-Chem tech. From what I understand the stall test is meant more so for the wheel motors, but I would think it will help better understand the pump by watching the gauges as well.
I would do a stall test. Put the machine in high gear. Lock the brake. Have rpm at full. watch charge and drive psi. Slowly push the hydro handle forward. Watch the gauges if the system is working correctly it will stall the hydro and the charge psi will drop at first then level out as the drive psi hits relief. If the engin starts to bogg down or even kills the engine you have a A B leak in the system. You can do the same test in reverse but you may not see a charge psi depending on the year, but the stall test should be the same. The A-B leak can be caused by a bad wheel motor, You can case drain each motor. Take off the cace drain line and put on a short hose on the motor and have it in a 5 gallon bucket. Have some one put unit in high gear and have brake set and slowly stroke th ehydro handle forward. you should only have a small amount of oil come out tof the motor. If you have a bad motor you will know it because you will get a bath in hyd oil spraying out of the bucket. You can rebuild some problems with the wheel motors. If you have broken a sealing ring it will create this problem but some times the motors have failed t the point all you can do is replace it. | |
