ecmn | lot of bull work. but a great project for a dyi guy to save money. cherry picker is a big help. do outer axle seals why your there.
before taking anything apart jack up the front and see if there is any slop up and down or wiggle in the kingpin bearings.
for the top and bottom caps I use a sharp chisel to get the cap started to come off, then get the pry bar under it.
use a parts diagram if you don't have the tech manual. the big seal drivers from deere make it a lot easier. but a jig saw and 1/2" thick aluminum plate and you can make your own.
I retighten bearings by feel, snug the ring up till bearings get tight, then loosen until you get slop then retighten to remove slop. test drive and feel for heat, | |
