For a fraction of the cost of a new planter, you can have this bolt-on kit (no welding, drilling, or torching) to put pneumatic air springs on 800, 900, 950 and 955 cyclo planters. This kit is capable of 525 pounds of downforce at 100 psi. Typical planting conditions in clay soils requires 50-60 psi.

I use no coulters, trash cleaners or aftermarket closing components. With the offset early-riser disc openers and proper downforce you can achieve near perfect stands just by adding the ability to get the row unit to depth.
