I'll add a picture, of a typical 3208 mechanical throttle linkage design, for a truck engine, and you could use that as an example to build a modified design, if you what to go strictly a mechanical linkage design which you could attach your current throttle cable to it.

The whole pivot points, would probably need to come forward about 4-5 inches and the stationary pivot point, would need to be higher, too.
