When I was young & foolish I used goosenecks.  I Almost refuse to own 1 today.  Electric brakes are worse than NO BRAKES. They can quit you with NO WARNING.

You will tear up the 1 ton pulling them, why would you want a "roller skate" in front of it.  Best thing I ever did was buy a semi for moving machinery. 

What will you drive if you destroy your driver?  That is if your lucky & live through the wreck.



It depends on how heavy and how often. For a 20 ft stock trailer, flatbed or the occasional tractor on a tandem dual, a pickup works fine. If machinery and hay hauling is an everyday thing, a semi and dropdeck ( or lowboy) is much better. And I am guessing that the latter is your scenario. Semis are kinda a money pit, so its bad if they sit a lot.
