that is working with Dupont bringing biobutanol to market is BP. The first production will be in England where the price advantage is greater.  It will be 5 to 7 years before the technology is introduced into the U.S.

Biobutanol is more expensive to make and at least for the present time the cost of production offsets the advantage to BTU's and logistics.  It is also my understanding that it is quite easy and inexpensive to convert an ethanol plant into a biobutanol when the time comes.

The one question I have not had answered is if and how they have overcome the smell of burning butanol (smells like baby vomit).
