| I've grown decent wheat with nothing but chicken litter but never topdressed in the fall. I have applied a light coat ~1 ton per acre in the fall and disked or chisel plowed it in and then planted wheat. I've topdressed up to 2.3 - 3.2 ton per acre in the spring depending on the previous manure history with no adverse effects. Just be careful you don't get it too heavy as chicken litter is much more potent than most other manures. You'll hardly be able to see 1-3 ton per acre on top the soil. I do intend to spread manure and no-till wheat in this fall following soybeans. | |
