| Here is a picture of one of our fungicide plots from last year, the left side is untreated while the right half is treated, you could see the difference from the road half a mile away. In our plots we found that with field averages of about 50 bpa or lower there was a yield advantage to the treatments but as yields topped 50 bpa the yield difference leveled off which means that the lower yielding fields had some health problems that we would not have been aware of if not for testing the fungicide. Last year we got some rains towards the end of Augest after the untreated beans had started to turn but the treated beans were enough behind that we think the late rains helped them. The results from our fungicide plots last year were enough that we did some more this year but so far I can't tell a lot of difference other than I don't think sudden death has been as bad in the treated beans. |
