Southeast MN | I run a 6 row planter on sidehills and contour strips and use poncho 250 on all seed and insecticide for corn on corn. I put all my fert down when planting, P & K is applied at removal rates based on 3 year average yield + 5% with a yetter coulter 2-3 inches to one side, 4 inches deep ( 2" below seed) along with 18 pounds N and traces of sulfer and zinc. For the rest of the N, it's all 28% coultered in 5 inches off to the other side of the row. Saddle tanks on the tractor get topped off while I auger the dry into the planter so it doesn't add any time to my refill time. An 8 or 12 row machine would require some big saddle tanks. I don't apply any foliar fungicides but there has been more discussion this year than ever before, more ads have been run this year? Your climate is different than mine though. | |
