Martinsville, Ohio | I use the Martin planter setup right between the old corn rows. I scout the field and watch weather patterns and use IPM methods which have included insecticide for real and potential insect problems and fungicide for leaf diseases. I see little difference in corn yields. I have gained surface residue which must be managed of course but have decreased erosion on my rolling hills.
I wouldn't think you would need to do much different if you use an AerWay tool and you shouldn't have to chop the stalks. Fall N has help break down my stalks but I have enough critters in my soil that is usually not a problem either.
I prefer crop rotation but like you am ready to plant more corn to fill the marketplace needs when they bid up the price... | |
