With that much error, it doesn't sound like a very useful proceedure to me.   If you are going to retain that much error I would think most anyone with even limited experience could do as well by simply using their judgement to estimate what it is going to make.    Heck, I could probably stay within +/- 30% more often then not without even looking at the field, simply by picking the average yield for the field.
