There is no better time then now to see the differences within the corn field so take two samples where the corn is green and two where the corn is dried out. Send the samples out to check for everything including the micronutrients. It might have nothing to do with it but it is easier to eliminate one potential problem at a time.
One question, have you ever cleaned out barn and dumped manure in spots or old feed? I agree with the soil moisture holding capacity but it might be from something you dumped in spots years ago. Seem to be more weeds where the corn is greener as well.
