I'd think all anyone would have to do is go to their local elevator & experiment. Ask for a sample of light tw corn (52-54#..check it yourself). Count out 700 kernels...pretend those 700 light tw kernels came from a single ear (like doing a yield check). Then, take the gram scale (most elevators have them) & weigh those 700 kernels.

Then find a sample of heavy tw corn (60-62#). Count 700 kernels....pretend those 700 heavy tw kernels came from a single ear (like doing another yield check). Take same gr scale & weigh those 700 kernels. I'm betting those 700 will weigh more...maybe 10% more.

Now-you have the weight of kernels from 1 ear of light tw corn & 1 ear of heavy tw corn. Take that x 30,000 ppa (or whatever you consider normal) & you'll have total weight of grain per acre. Assuming moisture content is same....I'm betting you'll have more #s of grain from heavy tw acre.

Notice that nowhere did we count the kernels in the tw container....that's something different.
