Nth New South Wales Australia | Yes that looks like Safflower to me too.We grow it here as a break crop as it is deep rooted and has the same rotational benefits as canola.It is a high value oilseed as it is used mainly for birdseed and cosmetics.Problem is it is easy to over supply a small market so forward contracts are important.
As to harvesting we have had great successs with draper fronts ,both Mcdon and Deere on a 9750,2388 and 9600,plugging only happens to an inattentive operator,and they only do it once:)
